INTERNATIONAL COMPETITION (HIGHLIGHTS)

The 2007 International festival selections promise to be an amazing program of diverse work from
all over the globe. Included in this bumper year of short films are the following highlights:

In a society where everyone has the ability to fly, the citizens anchor themselves to the ground
via "gravitation boots". Devoid of sunlight and the open sky, the members of society go about
their routine without any hope of personal gratification. One day, however, a man decides he has had enough attempt to challenge the status quo. He quits his job, loosens his bindings, and literally takes off.

Lucky

Lucky is an Aids orphan desperate to leave his rural Zulu village for the bright lights of Durban. He is full of excitement and hope but Lucky has to learn about life the hard way, not through school
or education...but through an unlikely bond with a racist Indian neighbour.

Driving on a deserted road in rural Australia, a multi-racial family is stopped by a group of soldiers. After some preliminary formalities, the conversation turns into ambiguous intimidation when the family is accused of trespassing. As the
intentions of the soldiers become clear, the father, Nedal, realizes that the safety of his wife and daughter rests in his hands.
