Hugh Jackman & Deborra-lee Furness support short film festival Flickerfest 2007
Flickerfest, Australia's premiere short film festival has received a record 1200 entries for its 2007
Academy Accredited short film competition, an increase of over 200 from 2006.
"This dramatic increase in entries this year is further testimony of Flickerfest's growing profile as the most important short film competition in Australia. Film makers from at home and around the world recognise the significance of participating at Flickerfest, The festival provides a measure of the success of their production on the international stage" said Festival Director Bronwyn Kidd.
In support of this competition and the great role that short film plays in discovering and
applauding emerging film talent, Flickerfest is thrilled to welcome on board Australian production company 'Seed'. Seed's principals Deborra-lee Furness, Hugh Jackman and John Palermo have all enjoyed remarkable success internationally. They have now chosen to demonstrate their support for the Australian film industry by becoming patrons of Flickerfest and sponsoring The Seed Productions prize for the Best Original Screenplay in an Australian short film. The winning Australian film maker will be awarded a $1000 cash prize.

Flickerfest International Short Film Festival announces highlights of its Australian Competition program for 2007. Flickerfest is delighted to screen the best of the best local filmmaking talent as Australian filmmakers continue to add their unique perspective to the short film scene both here and overseas. All films entered are eligible for the JVC Short Film Award for Best Australian Short Film.
JVC will present this award for the first time in 2007, and for the winner it means a prize of a JVC
