Flickerfest boasts Australia's only Academy Accredited international short film festival, as well as national and documentary competitions. The successful filmmakers will share a host of cash and other prestigious industry prizes, including the Jameson Short Film Award valued at 6,000 euros, which Flickerfest has recently been chosen to present by the European Coordination of Film Festivals and Jameson Irish Whiskey.
Festival Director Bronwyn Kidd also announced the 2005 special sessions, featuring a cultural spotlight on Mexico, a Horror/Thriller programme, a selection of Music clip shorts from legendary UK Electronic label Warp Records and a programme dedicated to showcasing the very best of animation shorts from Annecy, an international film festival dedicated entirely to animation.
A feature of the extended festival, Bronwyn has also programmed a special Flickerfest retrospective, showcasing award winners from the past 9 years. Short on length but never on entertainment value, audiences can look forward to viewing the world's most imaginative and inspirational shorts under the Bondi summer sky before the festival heads off around Australia to 15 venues nationally, including Byron Bay, Brisbane, Melbourne and Perth.
